My Man Godfrey (1936)


My Man Godfrey (1936)is a screwball comedy starring William Powell and Carole Lombard. The story takes place during the Great Depression. As a part of a scavenger hunt, a group of young socialites go to a city dump looking for a "forgotten man" What they find is Godfrey (William Powell). Godfrey is eventually hired as a butler for Irene (Carol Lombard), one of the young women in the group.

A former senator (Blake Washburn) works as an editior for a local newspaper. Blake campaigns against the evils of big business. After his sister is trapped in a tunnel and the products of big business (a company plane and a medical device) save her life, Blake has a change of heart.
